GLOSSARY OF COMMONLY USED TERMS

QUALIFIER

A supervisor, manager or employee who has passed the required state Bureau of LP Gas Inspection examination.

RANGE OF

FLAMMABILITY

A term used to describe that certain mixture of air and propane required achieving combustion.

RELIEF VALVE

A fitting designed to release vapor pressure to atmosphere to maintain a predetermined level of pressure inside the container.

REQUALIFICATI ON

The testing, certifying, retesting or recertifying ICC/DOT cylinders to determine suitability for continued safe use

SERVICE VALVE

The container valve that turns the gas on or off.

SPECIFIC GRAVITY

Product weight compared to air (vapor) or water (liquid).

TARE WEIGHT
(TW)

Weight of an empty container, including its valve

TRANSFER OPERATION

Act of transferring liquid product from one container (dispensing device) to another

Water capacity. The amount of water in gallons that an LP gas container can hold when full
